Siblings Edward and Minnie Abel visit Uhlich Children’s Home and donate $1,000. Each provide important donations to Uhlich in life and death, including providing funds as needed and hosting parties for the children.

1927

Ground is broken on August 26, 1927 on a new Uhlich Orphan Asylum on North California Avenue in Chicago, and the cornerstone laid at 3730 N. California Ave.

Henry W. King, former president of the Chicago Federated Charities and an ordained congregational minister, is named superintendent of Uhlich Orphan Home. He serves until his death in 1938.

The new Uhlich home opened its doors at the new location on April 20, 1928.
